About Pinnacle Science

Research productivity and dissemination should not be hampered due to a scarcity of funding. Pinnacle Science was founded by a group of prominent health and human performance researchers wanting to improve the climate of open access publishing. Most universities, departments, and non-funded researchers cannot afford robust open access fees; therefore, publishing in open access journals is not feasible. Furthermore, journals with traditional publishing models have excessive submission to publication times and the published works are only accessible if a person or an organization pays for access.

The combination of traditional publishing models and excessive open access fees impede the circulation of knowledge in any given field, therefore, restricting scholarly dissemination. In 2018, the first journal was launched. The Journal of Exercise and Nutrition (JEN) was designed to provide researchers with a low-cost, open access journal that emphasized application in the field of health, exercise and nutrition. As JEN continued to develop as a reputable journal, the need for additional, minimal cost open access journals became apparent. The Research Directs line of journals were launched in 2020 to expand the mission of Pinnacle Science, which is to provide high quality, open access journals for all health-based researchers at a minimal cost. Research Directs currently host four different journals in the field of health, psychology and behavior, human performance and therapeutic sciences.
